In the business world, going paperless is a widespread and popular practice in order to conserve environmental resources and earn consumer approval. Office paper, cardboard, and containers made from glass or plastic are typically collected in containers for recyclable materials, moved to recovery facilities, sorted by type, and transported to mills or factories for re-manufacturing.

For many industries, transitioning from paper-based systems to paperless electronic systems has benefits beyond environmental conservation and customer preferences.
